Using Data to Improve Student Outcomes

Data is all around us, so how do Australian schools use data to improve student outcomes?

A recent Australian report by the Grattan Institute argues for the rewards of targeted teaching while acknowledging the challenges posed in effectively using data to improve student outcomes.  The efforts of three Australian schools are profiled and international examples are also highlighted. Several recommendations are raised for government, school leadership, teachers and parents to consider how data can be used in teaching.
